Handmade lace designers and lacemakers have always been inspired by nature, and flowers in particular. Blossoms small and large are depicted in infinite variations in every lace in every country, so much so that it is hard to find a piece of lace that would not have any flowers in the design. Lace flowers are delightful to make, from simple flowers for beginners to the most complex masterpieces of highly skilled artisans. This workshop introduces basic plait and leaf tally variations and opens a door to the breathtakingly beautiful world of delicate lace blossoms. Enter and let the nature inspire your creativity and guide your fingers…

Requirements for Flower Earrings: no previous experience required, this is a workshop for complete beginners

Requirements for Flower Ring: basic experience with wire lace  (any previous New School of Lace workshops or courses) or previous lacemaking experience in fibre (familiarity with plaits and leaf tallies) is required.

Instruction will cover: braids, windmills (and leaf tallies) in bobbin lace; finishing lace as jewellery

Material: enamelled copper wire 0.2mm (AWG32) – colours and glass beads will be provided
Tools: Bring your own lacemaking pillow (any kind, suitable for small projects) and 4 pairs of bobbins for wire lace  (Lenka’s Bobbind for Wire Lace – fine or medium),  crochet hook size 10-12,jeweller’s cutters, fine nose and round nose pliers, paper scissors, note book.

Lacemaking kit for beginners (student pillow, special bobbins for wire, pins and printed instructions) will be available in class for each beginner, and for purchase after the class at student’s  price of $75.00.

Workshop fee: $120 + $6 for materials
