Workshop: “Chicken Egg Stand”

Learn how to make 3-d chicken stand for eggs! Bobbin lace in wire is strong and sturdy and can be shaped in 3-d objects that are decorative as well as useful. The chicken stand is made with just 5 pairs of bobbins and uses basic stitches to the best advantage, therefore this workshop project is suitable for beginners as well as more experienced lacemakers. The chicken stand is quite practical and can be used for serving breakfast eggs, or as a decorative egg-pot holder for growing cute little plants in egg shells. It is quite easy to make and delightful to give as a unique handmade gift.
– basic experience with wire lace (any previous New School of Lace workshops or courses) or previous lacemaking experience in fibre (familiarity with half stitch, leaf tallies, sewings) is required.
– instruction will cover: working with double wire; half stitch tape with braids (plaits)and leaf tallies, finishing lace as 3-D object
– bring your own lacemaking pillow (cookie or bolster) and 5 pairs of bobbins for wire lace (medium or fine), jeweller’s cutters, fine nose and round nose pliers helpful, crochet hook size 10-12, paper scissors, note book
Material: enamelled copper wire 0.2mm (AWG32) – 2 colours and glass beads will be provided
